Radar detectors are pieces of car equipment that can detect the presence of radar guns that are used to measure the speed of vehicles. Radar detectors work by detecting the signal emitted from a radar gun, radar guns emit this signal whenever they are turned on. Radar guns work by sending a radar signal to your car which is then bounces off of your car and returns to the gun, depending on how the frequency has changed they can detect how fast you were moving.
