In car DVD players are a great car accessory that help keep kids or anyone else sat in the back seats of a car entertained, this is a big bonus for long journeys involved with the summer holidays. In car DVD players are strapped to the back of the front seats of the car so that they are visible to the people in the back seats, they are either portable DVD players that have fixtures so that you can attach them to the back of the front seats or they are specific in car DVD players which are only intended for in car use. An in car DVD player can also be quite cheap, when you consider that you often get twin screens and a DVD player for under £200 then it's quite a good deal, a portable in car DVD player will be even cheaper.

When deciding which type of in car DVD player to get you need to know that the portable DVD players do not fit into the car as well as they require more support as they are not specifically intended for in car use. The in car DVD players that are specifically intended for in car use are thinner and generally have a separate DVD drive which can be stored away, these in car DVD players also often have two screens which is a big bonus as it means there will be no fighting over the screen. They usually have twin screens so there is one to be attached to the back of each front seat, the portable DVD players that only have one screen have to be placed on one of the back seats so if you have two kids in the back that is going to cause problems, you can get some models that have a harness that can be placed between the two front seats though. The good thing about the portable in car DVD players is that you can take them out of the car and they will be stable on any surface, this is because they have the base but remember this makes them more bulky in the car.

There are many features to look out for when buying an in car DVD player, the main thing to look for is the screen size as the screen sizes are always small. The LCD screen sizes are generally 5-8 inches, it may not sound like much of a difference but an 8 inch LCD screen is quite allot bigger than a 5 inch LCD screen so it's always best to go for the biggest screen you can get. The sound is also an important option, you will probably want an in car DVD player with a headphone socket so that the sound does not disturb anyone else, if it is a in car DVD player with twin screens then they normally have a headphone socket each. Most in car DVD players also have built in speakers so that you do not have to use the headphones, the models with two screens normally have separate volume controls so that people can have the volume as they like or use the headphones.

So when buying an in car DVD player there are a few things to look for, large LCD screens are nice and twin screens is even better, twin screens will keep everyone happy in the back seats on the way to the summer holiday!
